Giving Every Child the Right to Learn
Education is one of the most powerful tools for breaking the cycle of poverty. At Emmy Friends Foundation (E.F.F), we are committed to ensuring that children from underprivileged and rural communities in Uganda have access to basic education, regardless of their family’s economic background.
While Uganda has introduced Universal Primary Education (UPE) and Universal Secondary Education (USE), many children are still unable to fully benefit due to poverty, lack of materials, and inequality between rural and urban areas.
The Education Challenge in Uganda
In many rural communities:
- Only a small percentage of children complete basic education
- Families struggle to afford even the simplest school requirements
- Children attend school without books, pens, or bags
- Learning environments are under-resource
Although education is officially “free,” the hidden costs of schooling prevent many children from learning effectively and consistently.
Closing the Rural–Urban Education Gap
Children in urban areas often have limited access to: learning materials, miss lessons due to lack of supplies, fall behind academically and are more likely to drop out of school
Scholastic Materials Support
E.F.F provides essential scholastic materials, including: Exercise books and textbooks, pens and pencils, mathematical sets, school bags and basic learning aids
