Building Opportunity Through Sports
At Emmy Friends Foundation (E.F.F), we believe sports is more than just play, it is a pathway to education, discipline, health, and life opportunities. In many rural and underprivileged communities in Uganda, children have the talent and passion to play, but lack the basic resources needed to participate.
Through our Sports Development program, we work to close the gap between rural and urban sports opportunities by providing equipment, improving access to facilities, and offering structured coaching and mentorship.
The Challenge: Sports Inequality in Uganda
Sports development in Uganda faces serious barriers, especially in rural areas:
- Severe shortage of sports equipment
- Lack of safe and usable playing facilities
- Limited access to qualified coaching
- Wide gap between urban and rural opportunities
While children in urban centres often have access to proper pitches, boots, kits, and tournaments, their rural counterparts play barefoot on unsafe grounds or miss out entirely due to lack of resources. This inequality prevents many talented children from ever being discovered.
Equipment Sourcing & Distribution
One of the biggest obstacles to sports participation is the absence of basic playing equipment. Collecting donations of footballs, playing boots, jerseys and training kits
Distributing equipment to:
Rural schools, community teams and youth groups and academies. By redistributing equipment from areas of abundance to areas of need, we help ensure every child has a chance to play.
